For restoration contractors & project coordinators
Piano Moving for Restoration Companies
Keep the piano move aligned with the restoration schedule. Coordinate removal, storage and return delivery across Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and the GTA.
One piano. Three clearly scoped stages.
A baby grand can occupy the exact floor area a restoration crew needs to open. Moving it requires its own access review, equipment plan and destination. Piano Movers Toronto helps restoration contractors plan the piano portion of the job, from the first removal to placement after the room is ready.
01 / MOVE-OUT
Assess the route before the lift
Identify the piano type and size, its condition, the floor level and the complete route to a suitable vehicle position. For a baby grand, any removal of legs or the pedal assembly and the handling position must be selected by the moving team after reviewing the instrument and access. Do not have site trades dismantle the piano in advance.
02 / STORAGE
Agree a monthly storage arrangement
When the return date depends on repairs, request a monthly storage scope alongside the move-out quote. A two- or three-month period can be discussed by arrangement; capacity, conditions, billing periods and extensions must be confirmed. Give the expected duration and the process for updating the return date.
03 / RETURN
Reassess access and reassemble as agreed
Return delivery is a separate stage, not an automatic booking when the repairs finish. Confirm the room is ready, the handling route is clear and any new flooring requirements are known. Include reassembly of parts removed for transport and the agreed final position in the return scope.

What the project manager should send
Start with piano and access photos, the two locations, the proposed removal window and the expected storage duration. Include the authorised site contact and any loading, parking or elevator restrictions through the existing private quote form.
- Show the entire stair route, turns, ceiling clearance and doorways.
- Identify wet or damaged flooring, unstable steps and other access concerns.
- Confirm who may authorise the move and who approves changes to the scope.
- State whether the piano stays in the property, moves to storage or has another agreed destination.
An insurance file reference can help the contractor organise paperwork, but acceptance of a quote and responsibility for payment must be agreed separately. Do not assume the insurer has approved the expense.
Condition records at collection and return
Plan photographs of the cabinet, legs, pedals and visible pre-existing marks before handling. Identify which loose parts accompany the piano and how they will be recorded. At return, compare the visible condition and document placement and reassembly. Condition documentation supports a clear handover; it is not a valuation or a promise that the piano can be restored.
Site clearance comes before piano handling
After a flood, fire or other property loss, the restoration contractor must address site hazards and confirm safe access before the piano move is accepted. Disclose suspected contamination or damage to the instrument. This service covers agreed piano logistics; it does not provide water extraction, smoke or mould remediation, or restoration of contaminated pianos. A separate specialist assessment may be needed before handling or storage can be considered.
Toronto dispatch planning and west-GTA routes
Toronto is the main service focus, including North York, Etobicoke and Scarborough. For Mississauga, Oakville or Burlington, coordinate the removal window with the site lead and confirm return access separately. Requests elsewhere in the GTA are reviewed by route and schedule. Share time-sensitive work early; an enquiry is not a guaranteed emergency dispatch.
Questions Before Booking
Can a baby grand be removed while flooring is replaced?
It can be reviewed once the piano, site condition and access route are known. The moving team determines any appropriate disassembly and handling plan. Safe access and the receiving destination must be confirmed before booking.
Can storage run for two or three months?
A monthly arrangement can be requested for that period. Availability, storage conditions, billing periods and any extension or return notice requirements must be confirmed in the quote.
Will one price cover removal, storage and return?
Request each stage separately: move-out and transport, monthly storage, and return delivery with the agreed reassembly and placement. This makes changes in repair timing or access easier to review.
Can you guarantee immediate attendance after a loss?
No emergency attendance window is guaranteed on this page. Ask about available dates after the site and piano handling requirements have been reviewed.
Request a restoration-site piano moving quote
Send access photos and the planned move-out, storage and return stages. We will review the piano logistics against the site conditions and available schedule.
